Attn Massachusetts old car lovers: Senator Stephen Brewer’s Legislative Director recommends that we encourage our friends in the car collector hobby to contact the Joint Transportation Committee expressing our support for passage of Senate Bill S01719 which allows for the restoration of Year of Manufacture plates to their original colors and design without being considered altering. An example of wording that can be used is as follows: As a member of (insert the name of your car club here) I strongly support passage of Senate Bill S01719 relative to Year of Manufacture Plates which would allow the restoration and repair of year of manufacture plates to their original design and color. Passage would complement the practice in many other states allowing year of manufacture plates to be maintained and restored to original or better condition. Owners of antique vehicles take great pride in ownership and displaying their restored vehicles with year of manufacture plates, although scarcity of acceptable quality original condition plates limits their use. Restoration of year of manufacture plates also offers an additional income source for small businesses that specialize in this work to provide Concours quality results to compliment the restoration work that owners undertake with their rare and historic vehicles. |
